The minister of the education Xavier Darcos presented Tuesday the big lines of the changes foreseen since the next return in class of second in the setting of the reform of the high school. She/it foresees the institution of three weekly hours of "accompaniment personalized" notably and the carving of the year in two semesters.
"Ambiguous and fuzzy" for the SNES, the measures announced by Xavier Darcos at the time of a press conference raise some questioning at the very least at the unions. They "sound like an appointment missed" for the UNSA, while the SGEN-CFDT tells to fear "the permanence."
The "new republican high school", explained Xavier Darcos, will remain "faithful to his/her/its objectives" and his/her/its "ideals", but will permit to adapt to his/her/its time with more of "personalization" of the teaching and the follow-up of the pupils.
The details of the reform should be finalizes from one year and half" to two years, with setting in application since September 2009 for the pupils of second, 2010 for the classes of first and 2011 for the terminal.
In order to equilibrate the wage costs in the year and to allow the high school student to change modules if he/it is there in failure, the school year of second will be divided in two semesters of 17 weeks, marked by four appointments with the pupil: two advice of semi-semester and two other, more important, of semester end. Between the two semesters will be placed one week "interstice" of "balance and orientation." Cyber Economy.
Although he/it hoped for a "lightening" of the timetables, Xavier Darcos finally arranged itself to the decision to keep a schedule of 30 weekly hours. Twenty-one will be dedicated to the "general teachings": French, mathematics, history-geography and civic education, experimental sciences, physical education and sportswoman, and languages live 1 and 2, of which the generalization since the second is a novelty.
To it two modules of three hours will be added (either six weekly hours) say of "exploration and deepening", in order to allow the pupils to vary their teachings, to open up on unknown domains or to go farther in a specialty.
These options will be dug up in four big families of matters: humanities (French literature, Latin, Greek, language lives 3, arts...), sciences (mathematics, sciences of life and the earth, data processing and numeric society), sciences of the society (economics and social, management, history and geography) and technologies (among others, initiation to the engineer's sciences, to the medico-social sciences, techniques of shop, design...).
Last novelty, the institution of three hours of "accompaniment personalized", that will be able to be translated, according to the pupil's need, by the school support, of the advice of orientation or the interdisciplinary work.
There are not any threats on the technological sets, that succeed very well" and this new "organization of the high school doesn't imply a reform of the final exam", is defended itself Xavier Darcos. Otherwise, this reform doesn't hide "a logic accountant" or "of savings", it has hammered, reaffirming that no of the 13.500 deletions of stations foreseen in 2009 in the national education "will concern the high school."
This reform, "that brings the more and not of the less", respect the "points of convergence on the objectives" signed in June and last July with the unions, put forward M. Darcos, estimating that these measures will entail for the teachers a "moral and material" revalorization, notably of the "indemnities bound to the follow-up."
For the hour, the details of this reform of the second class - notably the hourly distribution of the general teachings - must be discussed again, at the latest until Christmas, in "dialogue" with the unions of teachers, the high school students and the chiefs of establishments, specified the minister.
Interrogated on possible school manual changes since the return 2009, Xavier Darcos wanted to be reassuring, affirming that the programs of second would only be modified to the margin." However, he/it has conceded, it will be necessary to establish, once the reform entirely momentum, "of the programs more adapted." AP
