The manor of the Prince Gong (Gong Wang Fu), the biggest royal home and the better preserved of Beijing, old of more than 230 years, opened Wednesday to the public after a renovation of two and half years.

The manor, containing a residential area and a garden, is situated very close to the picturesque lake of the forbidden City in the center of Beijing. Constructed in 1776 for Heshen, favorite privileged minister of emperor Qianlong (1711-1799), she / it later acted as residence for several princes.

The garden of 28 000 sq meters had opened to the public in 1988. Spreads as the residence for it on 32 000 m2.

About 9 800 square meters of residential buildings of the area have been renovated and 2 200 m of buildings has been constructed, according to the archives of the original sites.

The museum of the manor presents a collection of photos and documents on the princes of the Qing dynasty (1644-1911), as well as the ancient furniture, the royal clothes, the china and of other daily items.
